Weekend in Savannah!

Thanks to my parents, Jacob and I snuck away for a kid free weekend in Savannah, Georgia.  What a BEAUTIFUL city!  It's streets are lined with huge oak trees, draped with spanish moss and old antebellum homes.  Then there's always the "party" street called River Street pictured below.

Many tour around town in an old time horse drawn carriage.  We toured on a trolley instead.  It was fun! :)

There are beautiful squares and parks seemingly on every block!

Apparently Savannah has one of the busiest seaports on the East Coast, so we enjoyed watching and listening to all of the boats.

We stayed at the Westin (pictured here), so we took a ferry taxi from our hotel across the river to the city.

Jacob on the ferry.

We were happy to share our vacation with Jacob's mom and step-dad.  Since Oklahoma is little farther away from Minnesota, we haven't seen them since we moved in July!  It was great to have the whole weekend to reconnect :)

We enjoyed some YUMMY food in Savannah, especially at Paula Dean's restaurant.

Southern comfort foods....yum! :)

The main reason for the trip was a Pro-Am golf tournament that Jacob and his step-dad, Rick played in on Sunday.  The day started out PERFECT for golf, but got a bit overcast and windy by the 18th hole.

The golf course was green and beautiful....something we haven't seen in Minnesota for MONTHS!

There were several big name Pros at the tournament, like Jack Nicholaus!

The amateur closest to the pin on Hole 17 won a Heavenly bed!  Rick had to try it out :)

Jacob was closest for a fleeting moment (he was also the first amateur on that hole!)

The guys were paired up with two senior professional golfers, Larry Laoretti and Butch Baird.  They were good at their game, but were very nice guys to play with too.

They didn't name holes "Alligator Alley" for nothing.  There were several gators camped out on the course.

Jacob and Rick really enjoyed themselves.

Their team finished with a score of 65.  First place went to a team scoring 61.

All in all, it was a great get away!  We really enjoyed the "Southern Charm" and the opportunity to spend some time with Rick and Karen.  The break from snow and ice was also very nice :)  We left home in 6 inches of snow and came home to another 6.  COME ON SPRING! :)
