Skylander's Birthday Party!

We celebrated the big boys' birthdays with a Skylander Party this year!  Skylanders is a Nintendo Wii game that Mitchell got for Christmas, which quickly took over our house.  Jacob enjoys playing it as much as Mitchell and Maverick loves watching!

For this year's celebration, we decided to rent out the local high school gym, order some pizza and enjoy some fun time with friends!

Macallan had to sample the pizza while Jacob was setting up :)

I think Maverick may have had TOO much fun at one point!  He needed a rest :)

Jovie enjoyed lots of snuggles from friends' moms during the party :)

The kiddos really enjoyed their Skylander masks!

Maverick is a little confused about having ANOTHER birthday celebration.  He understood that he turned 4 on his birthday, but is convinced now that the party was a few weeks later that this MUST be a separate birthday, so he thinks he must be 5!  I guess next year, we'll do a party closer to his actual birthday :)

We were very thankful to have lots of friends come to help us celebrate!

Happy Birthday, Maverick!!!

Our adventurous super hero is celebrating his 4th birthday today!

In honor of his birthday, I thought I'd post some of my favorite pictures of him over the past year.

He has a very "spirited" personality, an active imagination and a sensitive soul.

Maverick LOVES super heros!  Spiderman continues to be his favorite, with Batman as a close runner up!

He often pretends he's a superhero or other character (Ninja, Pup Patrol, etc) around the house.  When in character, he asks you to address him as such..."Spiderman Maverick, Ninja Maverick, etc".

His little brother pretty much mimics every little thing that Maverick does!  Now that Mitchell is in school, Maverick and Macallan spend LOTS of time playing together!  Macallan really enjoys all of Maverick's pretend play.

As you can tell, he really looks up to his big brother :)

Although all of the boys love their baby sister, Maverick seems to have bonded with her the most.

The other day, Maverick asked me "Mom, do you know what?" (Many conversations start that way in our house!)

"What, Mav?"

He responded "Jovie has a beautiful butt."

And with a slight grin, I responded "Yes, she does."  Thinking about the day that he'll be mortified that he was admiring his sister's behind. :)

Maverick is our cuddliest of the three boys.  He used to be a big time Momma's boy, but now that Momma has two other younger babies to tend to, he's decided that Daddy isn't so bad after all :)  Jacob is a cuddle-bug too, so it suits them both well :)  Although he falls asleep in his own bed, by morning time he's most often found his way into our bed and is snuggled up with Daddy.  No complaints from either of them!

This is a picture taken at an amusement park this past summer.  Jacob loves to take the boys to amusement parks (and so do I, but I'm usually pregnant, ha!...Yes, I'm 6 months pregnant with Jovie in the below picture).  Just like Mitchell, Maverick rides any ride he's allowed on.  He isn't scared of a single one.  He is an adventurous little man.

This is their first time on a ropes course!  They LOVED it! :)  Macallan and I watched.

He even tried hang gliding!!!

Probably Maverick's favorite activity this summer was Farm School.  They were responsible for feeding and caring for animals, gathering chicken eggs and even growing their own little garden.  He went for a few hours in the morning, twice a week and absolutely loved it.

Maverick is SUCH a blessing to our family.  He certainly has his own unique traits that we have struggled to find the right way to encourage.  He has certainly changed and matured A LOT from age 3 to age 4.  He gave us a real run for a money at certain times this year, but we are in a good grove now. He is a sensitive, cuddly little man with lots energy.

He tells me that when he grows up, he wants to be daddy and have 5 kids...to which he adds "and I will NEVER yell at them."  Oh, I can't wait to see the future unfold!
