Maverick is 2 months old!

Little Maverick is not quite so little anymore! He's 2 months old today - wow, how the time has flown! He is such a precious little thing - a smiley, happy baby. I often refer to him as "my teddy bear" because he prefers to sleep on you rather than on his own! He will be dead asleep and as soon as we lay him down, his little eyes will pop open and the crying begins. As soon as you pick him up, he'll immediately stop crying and fall back asleep. REPEAT! Sounds humurous...except when it's 3am!

We're celebrating his 2 month birthday by packing away his newborn/0-3 month clothes :( I'm so sad to see them go, but the little bugger is just tooooooo tall for them! We have our 2 month pediatrician check-up on Friday and I can't wait to see how big he has gotten. I know for sure he has NOT outpaced his brother in weight, but I'm thinking he might be taller than Mitchell was at this point. Take a look at the bottom picture of Mitchell taken at 2 months in the same outfit.

Enough pictures, Mommy :)

2 month picture of Mitchell for comparison
What a chunk :)

These last two months have been so enjoyable with Maverick. I'd consider him an "easy" baby...cuddly and easy going. He still wakes multiple times at night to nurse and cuddle. Honestly, it's kind of nice to have the night time with Maverick since most of the day is dominated by his big brother!

Mitchell and I often talk about how he is the BIG brother and can do BIG boy things like eat and play with toys. Maverick is too little for those things. Today when I told Mitchell it was Maverick's 2 month birthday, he said "His birthday is very little." Ummm....sure.

Family Trip to Crown Center

Jacob was finally up to getting out and about on Sunday for a little while, so we headed to Crown Center for some family fun!

Mitchell really enjoyed seeing the Easter Bunny. The toddler in front of us screamed his head off, so I was a bit worried it might rub off on Mitchell...nope! Maverick needs some practice looking towards the camera :)

They have a Fairy Tale exhibit for children at Crown Center right now. Mitchell really enjoyed running through it!

Mitchell as the 8th Dwarf

Please don't blow our brick house down!

Watch out for the wolf, Mitchell!

The weather is supposed to be WONDERFUL this week, so we're anxious to get out and enjoy it!

27 Months!

Mitchell had his golden month birthday yesterday - 27 months old on the 27th! We celebrated by going to a children's concert. He was a wild man dancing and running around. At one point, he came up to me and said "I'm being a naughty boy!" Ha! It was nice for him to burn off some pent up energy. He was sound asleep on the way home!

Jacob and I get a kick out of Mitchell's "pick up" lines lately. When we see little kids out and about, Mitchell will strike up a conversation with them by advertising some of his toys at home. Recently we saw two little boys at Home Depot and Mitchell walked up to them and said "Hey, hey....I have trains and fast cars and helicopters and bulldozers....." So funny :) Sometimes he shows us off too. "That's my mommy, my daddy and my brother."

He's still a little jealous of his little brother at times, but I suppose you can't blame him...our world has revolved around only Mitchell for 2 years, so it's an adjustment for all of us! Overall, he's doing very well with our newest addition to the family.

He is trying to drop his nap these days (no!!!!). He is not tired enough for his normal nap time anymore...but is usually too tired in the evening to make it until 8pm. Two nights ago, he fell asleep at 6:15pm. We let him sleep for about an hour and then he was up until 11pm! It's no wonder he was sound asleep after the kid's concert yesterday!

Happy 27 months, Mitchell Ryan!

Tummy Time

Big brother is showing little brother how to do tummy time :)

Jacob is steadily getting better! He actually made it into work for the morning today. We are glad he's on the up and up before the weekend. We hope to make a trip to visit a large white animal with a puffy tail :)

Muddy Boy

I discovered that when our front door is not locked, our adventurous young son can open it himself now and let himself outdoors! Ahh!! Luckily Maverick and I were in the living room and followed him. It was SUCH a nice day! We explored up and down our street for a while...and as you can likely tell, Mitchell found many different mud puddles to play in and enjoyed "fishing" in them with the fishing pole/stick that he found. What a young explorer :)

After our exploration outdoors, we explored the bathtub!

Jacob has surgery on his deviated septum yesterday morning. Unfortuatunately his doctor said it was much more intensive than he thought it would be at the onset. He should be back to his old self in a few days, but is certainly a sight for sore eyes today :( I had to take the boys with me to pick him up and Mitchell didn't even recognize him :( "That's not my daddy." Once I assured him that it was in fact his daddy, he said "That's my daddy?" about 20 times.

I can tell Mitchell is a little concerned about him. We took a trip to the pharmacy yesterday and when we got in the car, Mitchell asked "What happened to Daddy's eyes?" I explained that the doctor fixed Daddy, and that was the end of the questions.

Jacob had hoped to return to work tomorrow, but I think he'll likely end up staying home at least one more day. It's BUSY having 3 boys to wait on!

Footprints in the snow

We got DUMPED on this weekend - 8 inches on Saturday. Guess how many are left today? Zero! It's supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow!

Let's hope the next time we see Mitchell footprints in the snow, they are a year bigger and there are little Maverick prints following behind :)

Now that I spend 24/7 with the little guy, I could literally create a funnies list for every single day...but here are some of my recent Mitchell funnies:

1. Mitchell gave me a hug the other day. I said "I love you, Mitchell." He said "I love you too, sweetie." How cute :)

2. We have a lot of talks lately about what Maverick will be able to do with Mitchell when he grows up. Some of the common sayings are "He will be able to play with my toys with me." "He will be able to watch Dora with me." "He will be able to play soccer/hockey/baseball/basketball with me." Today Mitchell and I were playing when Maverick got up from a nap. I said "Mitchell, I need to go get Maverick up from his nap." Mitchell said "Mommy, will he be bigger yet now?

3. Jacob's little brother Connor is 14. He lives in Maine, so unfortunately, we haven't seen him since last 4th of July. We saw the local high school boy's cross country team running down the street the other day and Mitchell said "Hey, look at those 'Connors' running." :)

4. When my Dad asked Mitchell what street we live on, he responded "Drury Lane". We've been singing the "Muffin Man" song lately and I guess he thought we were neighbors! 'Do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man? Do you know the muffin man who lives on Drury Lane?"

Katy & Jordan Visit :)

Katy and Jordan visited us on their spring break earlier this week to meet the newest addition to the family. Katy said "He looks exactly like he does on the blog." :)

One of the highlights of the trip was coloring Easter eggs. Mitchell LOVED it! He didn't quite understand how easily eggs break though and we had a few casualties! We have some plastic eggs too..but it's just not Easter without coloring eggs!

It was really nice to have some extra hands around for a few days! We took advantage of the time to finish another outstanding house project. We painted and tiled our laundry room. We're hoping to put the finishing touches on tonight so that I can have an operating washer and dryer again! Laundry sure does pile up quickly with 2 kiddos!

Here's a cute pics of my green guys! My dad paid us a visit on St. Patty's Day :)

And just one last cute pic of Mitchell in the bathtub...I just love clean kids! :)

Happy St. Patty's Day!

My two boys sportin' their green :)

This will be the one day of the year that Mitchell will have a leg up on his brother due to his hair color!

I was changing Maverick's diaper this morning when he flashed me the CUTEST little grin :) I stopped momentarily to enjoy it only to notice his automatic sprinkler kick in full force. I think there might've been something behind that smile!

Maverick is 6 weeks!

It's hard to believe that Maverick is already 6 weeks old! I think it's going to get tougher to compare baby pics between the boys; look how CHUBBY Mitchell already was at this age! Although their faces sure do resemble each other, Maverick stature is much more long and lean.

We are enjoying a visit from Aunt Katy and Jordan. I will post some pictures soon :)

First trip to the Alley

We ventured to the local bowling alley for the first time with Mitchell this week. He LOVED it...let me clarify. He love it when it was his turn. He loved it for the first 7 or so frames (he lost interest after that and was more interested in the neighboring arcade)! I was glad it was a weekday afternoon because it was not very crowded. Even so, it was tough to keep Mitchell out of everyone else's lanes. He wanted to try them all!

Here is a video of his first frame ever :)

They really make it kid-friendly these days!

You've got to love toddler bowling shoes! When the lady asked what size, I said "probably the smallest you've got." She said they run as small as a size 6! Whoa - Mitchell is a size 9. I thought we starting him a bit young, but I guess there are some kiddos that begin even earlier!

His celebration dances were the cutest :)

Maverick was his typical relaxed self...taking in the action for the first game and snoozing through the second.

As you can see, Jacob was the big winner of our first game. I won the second :)

Despite numerous warnings, he threw maybe his largest temper tantrum yet when it was time to leave. He made a literal representation of the phrase "Take me out of here kicking and screaming!" I should've video taped that for your viewing nightmare! I guess he liked it :)

Mitchell's latest head wound

I guess I did get one picture of Mitchell looking at me this weekend. Of course, it was when he was swinging a stick my way.
ALL boy!

I was glad to get the picture shoot in before Mitchell's latest head wound :( He face planted into the corner of the wall. He barely cried, but he'll be sporting a bump and scrape for quite some time!

Family Photoshoot

My Dad was nice enough to agree to take some family pictures of us this past weekend while the weather was so nice! You all know that I'm addicted to my camera, so I'm constantly snapping pictures of the boys...but we hardly have any family pictures!

I also have been practicing with my photoshop programs a bit and am getting better!

I'm thinking of framing one in our living room, but haven't decided which one yet. Let me know if you have a favorite.

Enjoy :)

The onery little guy would NOT look at me...so this is the best I could get of him. I think it captures the essence of a 2 year old boy...not following directions, constantly exploring :)

Smile Video

Here's a little video of Maverick's sweet smile for your viewing pleasure!

Please ignore the super loud air cleaner in the background. We use it for 'white noise' while Maverick is sleeping and I'm so used to it that I didn't even notice it was still on! It's easier than having Maverick spend his first 3 months sleeping with the bathroom fan on like Mitchell! :)

Maverick has a clogged tear duct in his left eye. It is yucky and gunky all of the time :( According to our pediatrition, it should clear out on its own, but it might take up to 9 months. Ah!!! I've been massaging it as much as he'll let me to try to speed along the process, but no improvement yet. Keep your fingers crossed for a gunkless eye in the near future! :)

Bathing in the sink

We had a great weekend and really enjoyed the WONDEFUL weather (50's and 60's). We enjoyed getting out and soaking up some of the spring sun! Speaking of sun, Jacob is off to California for work this week. He left yesterday afternoon, but not before treating Mitchell to his weekly trip to Dave & Buster's to "play basketball and ride motorcycles", as Mitchell describes it :)

Little Maverick is liking his baths more and more....no more tears (oh, and I got my hair cut off, finally!)

Mitchell thought bathing in the sink looked so fun that he wanted to give it a try! No, he did not actually use the dish scrubber. :)

Soaking up the water....

The very first personalized item that I ordered for Mitchell before he was born was a towel from Pottery Barn. I got the best picture of him in it a few weeks after he was born.

Mitchell - January 2008

I just had to order the same towel for Maverick.

Maverick - March 2010

Yes, I think it's safe to say that our boys resemble each other!

Do you think he's changed a little since that first picture? :)

Mitchell was a good boy all day today, EXCEPT for one little "incident". He sat on Jacob and I's bed while I was changing Maverick's diaper. Jacob had a glass of water sitting on his night stand. The next thing I know, the entire glass of water was emptied on our bed.

Me: "Mitchell, what did you do?!?!"

Mitchell: "I dumped it.......like a dump truck."

Ugh! Great reminder that towels aren't just photo props!
