Minnesota Summer

We are slowly getting settled into Minnesota life...and the boys are growing as fast as can be!

Macallan is NINE months old.  It is so hard to believe that his first birthday is right around the corner!

Grandpa David likes to give me a hard time for rarely brushing the boys hair.  I usually just run my fingers through it.  I'll have him know that hair combing has now become an after bath ritual...proof below :)  I admit that brushing Tex still does not happen as frequently as needed!

I love their little naked bodies!  Macallan is the perfect size...plenty of meat on his little bones, but not tooooooo chunky!  We have his pediatrician appointment next week, so I'll share his stats.

Macallan is on the move! He is crawling everywhere, crusing on furniture and standing up to walk behind toys, but certainly not taking any steps of his own yet!

Macallan's big brothers still love on him quite a bit!  Mtichell is so gentle with him!  Mitchell loves to give him nicknames...his most recent is "Little Taco Head".  Someday Macallan is bound to reply like Maverick does "I'm not a Taco Head.  I'm Maverick!"

I absolutely love this picture below.  His precious little face, unruly hair and gray eyes melt my heart!

Can you see the two bottom teeth that have sprouted through?  The top ones seem to be soon to follow, but nothing yet!!

Mitchell is so fun to hang out with these days.  He certaintly still challenges me, but mostly he is very helpful!

He is very excited to start preschool in a few weeks.  We've already started talking about kindergarten next fall, to which he has requested to go half-day rather than full-day, so that he doesn't miss us too much.  We'll see how his tune changes throughout this year :)

I'm happy to report that at 2 1/2 Maverick is potty trained...for #1 that is. #2 is still challenging us...and oh, boy am I anxious to get that one under control!  Maverick seems to have gone through his "terrible 2's" early on.  While we have our battles now and then, mostly he is a really good little man.  He is the cuddliest of the three, still requesting to "lay on my tummy" at bedtime.  Macallan was fussy the other day and Maverick went to lay down next to him, pulled up his little shirt and said "Callan (as he calls him), just lay down on my tummy."  As if that cures ALL things!

Macallan is doing his fair share of babbling, trying to converse with the rest of the family.  Ma-ma-ma-ma and Da-da-da-da are some of his favorites.

Me: "Maverick, do you hear that?  Macallan is saying "mama"."

Maverick seemed impressed, then looked at Macallan and asked "Callan, can you say "Maverick's skateboard?"

He was a little disappointed with the lack of response.

Gran, the water guns you got for the boys get as much action in Minnesota as they did in Kansas :)

As this stage, Maverick is certainly the ornerest of the three!

Macallan enjoys our backyard baby swing...and I enjoy the break it gives my arms:)

Mitchell has become fairly helpful with chores lately.  He loves to help me cook, is in charge of getting the mail, and is even cleaning windows (with water) below.

And just like that....just as we're getting used to the Minnesota summer, it's about to turn to fall!

My Dad & Darci's first visit to see us in Minnesota!

I guess they figured they should get up to see us before winter....and they were safe in August!  We were happy to have my Dad, Darci & Casey come visit us!

We didn't do much sight seeing (if any), and only checked out the town a little, but we DID spend lots of quality time together...and that's what matters :)

My  Dad, Kel & Grant (5 months)

Casey & his little buddy, Maverick

Casey & Darci....

...who are expecting a BABY GIRL in November!  YAY! We are just trying to figure out who is carrying the baby?

Dad and his offspring....can you find Mitchell? :)

Such a fun visit!!!!!

My Mom's 60th Birthday!

We celebrated a milestone birthday for my Mom this year!  She turned 60 years old!  We went to her house on her actual birthday for a little cake and ice cream celebration with our family.  The boys were pretty fond of the cake and really enjoyed helping her open her presents.

Below my mom is admiring her lit cake...but more so she's enjoying hearing the boys sing her Happy Birthday.  Maverick's rendition was especially entertaining! :)

Seriously, this picture captures my mom perfectly -- captures her admiration for the boys, her special "glow" ...I'll bet she even has a little tear in her eye hearing them sing to her....she usually does :)

We threw a bigger party for her the Saturday following her birthday...good food, good friends and an all around good time :)

Kelli and I decorated with a bunch of old pictures of Mom.  We had such a good time going through all of them :)

This is Mary & Gary - good friends and neighbors of Mom & Dave.  They hosted the party so that Mom didn't have to do all of the work of hosting!

Mom & Grant

Quite a few of Mom's friends and neighbors attended.  It was wonderful weather!

Onery Mav enjoyed playing on Gary's collection of MOTORCYCLES!

Macallan got a stern talking to by Gary :)

Mitchell is SUCH a good big cousin to Grant.  Who knows what he's telling him here!

We did some dancing later in the evening.  Mary had her camera when Mitchell started dancing.  He said "Mary, take a picture.  I won't say cheese, and I won't look at you, but it'll be a great picture!"  I hope he was right! Ha!

 David enjoyed the celebration :)

Little Grant (5 months) was all smiles for the occasion!

Hand in the air is his signature move these days!

Look at those eyes!  Bet you can tell why David calls him "Hollywood"!

Mom  & I.  She was with grandson in arm most of the evening...she wouldn't have it any other way :)

We hope it was the happiest of birthdays for my Mom.  No one deserves a celebration more :)
