Baby update

We had our last scheduled doctor's appointment this afternoon. I remember when I made the appointment months ago thinking "oh, surely I'll have had the baby by then!" Unfortunately, I've made only slow progress this week.

Last week:
2 cm dilated
20% effaced

This week:
Barely 3 cm dilated
50% effaced

The baby still sounds great and is as active as ever. He hasn't dropped any lower than last week, so apparently he's happy as a clam in there. I would really like to give this fellow ample time to come on his own before inducing, so we scheduled an induction for the week after next. If he doesn't come on his own beforehand, we'll start the induction at 7am on Tuesday, February 9th. That seems like an ETERNITY to wait at this point! The doctor doesn't really think I'll make it that long, but he didn't think I'd make it this long either!!!

For the first time, the doctor predicted what he thinks the birth weight will be - 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Mitchell was 7 pounds, 10 ounces. We'll have to see if he's right!

There's a full moon on Saturday. I'm hoping the old wives tale works to draw this little guy out. :)

Don't stress....just because the changes in one week aren't what you want, doesn't mean you won't go into labor tomorrow! Waiting is the hardest part! Keep on keepin' on and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that babe will be here before the 9th :)

So true, Kristen! By the way, I see progress.

When I was tired of waiting on Natalie, we went to the mall (an hour and a half away) and walked and walked and walked. It was theraputic to get out and look at other things and think about nothing. It was a great way to clear my mind and loosen up the body. When we got home, I felt good. I felt like I could handle a few more days of pregnancy. That night, I went into labor.

I really enjoyed swimming/water walking my last week. It clears the mind and you feel so relaxed and light! And you can float on your back!
