We had been anxiously awaiting Grant's arrival for MONTHS! Kelli called me at 9am on February 22nd and said those special three little words..." My water broke."
When I got the call, I was loading the boys into the mini-van to head to
our Wednesday morning Bible Study, and immediately I was bubbling with
excitement! My first instinct was to rush back into the house, grab a "few" things
and head to Minneapolis. Once the reality set in that I'd need more
than a "few" things for myself, three boys and two dogs, I knew I
couldn't leave right away.
Although it pained me, we went to Bible Study as planned. Kel asked me
to call my Mom & Dad to tell them the exciting news, so I made some
calls on our way. While Mitchell was at his afternoon pre-school,
Maverick, Macallan and I worked to pack all of our things. We picked
Mitchell up at 3pm and our packed mini-van headed North! We only made one stop (albeit a long one) to burn off some energy. The boys and dogs were all so well behaved! :)
I got updates from Kelli and Mark througout the day, finally at 8:43pm she texted me "Dilated to a 10 :)" I responded back "GOOD LUCK!!!!! I'm thinking pink!" BOY, was I ever wrong :)
At 10:44pm, she texted "It's a boy! Has a bit of a fever so mark is with him in the nursery. But both of us are doing well :)" They both recovered very quickly and it wasn't until the next morning that they shared his name with us.
Grant Joseph Gorgus....welcome to the family!
I waited until the morning of the 23rd to visit the hospital. Mitchell and Maverick stayed and played with Grandpa while Macallan and I snuggled with Grant.
The proud parents!
Grandma Bays welcomed yet another grandson into the family!
She has plenty of love for all of them :)
Grandma Gorgus (Mark's Mom) was all too happy to hold her newest grandbaby.
Same for Grandpa Gorgus!
I absolutely love this picture of Mark. Doesn't he just look so genuinely happy!
We are already guessing that Grant's lucky number will be "2". He was born on 2.22.12 in Room 222, and he missed 22:22 (military time) by 6 minutes!
Look what a size difference 3 months makes :) I can NOT wait to see these two grow up together!
"Can you believe Grant actually fits in this?"
Grant has Mark's ear, which is the same as his mom's! I was 100% kidding when I said "No paternity test needed!" :)
Grandpa Michel (who Mitchell has now nicknamed "Grampy" for all of the grandkids) drove up to welcome his newest grandson. Funny that a man that had THREE daughters now has FOUR grandsons!
Lucky little Grant has an adorable jungle themed nursery. Kelli has always loved monkeys, so it is no surprise that Grant has quite a few :)
Tell tale sign of a good first-time mom -- record of every feeding, poop, pee, etc!
A personalized blanket gifted from Mark's sister, Aunt Dana.
Speaking of aunts, Aunt Darci also made the trip to meet Grant!
As you can see, there is no shortage of love surrounding this tiny guy! He is one lucky little dude to have such caring parents and extended family! Although it would've been wonderful to finally add a girl to this generation, I am so excited to be able to watch Grant grow up with my boys!
We love you, Grant!
