My Mom and David were kind enough to watch the boys while Jacob and I had a little get-away. We flew to Maine, packed up a moving van with furniture from Jacob's Dad & Diane and drove it back to Kansas City.
We made a vacation out of it....and stopped along the way in Philadelphia to visit Jacob's brother. We then drove on to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in time for Pirates Opening Day!
Look at that view from the stadium!
In the foreground is a fun little 'ride' from lower Pittsburgh up a mountain to a viewpoint location.
Here we are at the top.
Next.....on to Louisville, Kentucky! We absolutely loved Louisville. There were so many fun things to do and see that we plan to go back!
This picture cracks me up because it totally sums up Jacob on vacation. "According to my watch we're going to be late, hurry up!"
On our way into Churchill Downs, the Horse Racing compound.
Inside Churchill Downs....we are huge Derby fans, so this was so fun for us. Oh, how I'd LOVE to go to a Derby someday!
...but until then, we look forward to our annual Derby Party!
The huge Louisville Slugger bat outside the museum.
Jacob up to bat with Mickey Mantle's bat.
Ever wonder how they cut bats out of trees?
You could call this one the boy inside the man or the man inside the glove, take your pick.
It was a great get away. We missed the boys like crazy, but some time away was really nice too!
The boys thought the moving van was a lot of fun!
We were happy to get home, and are excited to have some nice dining room furniture among other things!
