My family was in a St. Patty's Day parade years and YEARS ago. We dressed as clowns! I still remember that I wore my dad's big work shoes and my feet hurt SO bad by the end of the route! Despite my feet, it is a FUN memory that is etched in my brain. I've been dreaming up a way to talk people into doing a float for our local Shawnee parades.
I succeeded in talking our neighbors into having a Team Lucy float in this year's St. Patty's Day parade! We used it as a way to help promote an upcoming CureSearch walk.

Our float was a train that the neighborhood kids all rode on. Lucy's nickname was "Goose"....Lucy Goosey, so our train was decked out in geese!
Mitchell had a blast riding along and waving to the patrons.

I'm not sure Maverick's first experience participating in a parade will be quite as memorable as mine :) He snoozed through the whole event in a stroller that I pushed tailing the train.
At the end of the parade, they vote on the best floats and we WON the prize for the best children's float! Yeah!

The story of Team Lucy is incredible. So sad there even needs to be a Team Lucy :( After spending the last 30 minutes reading all about Lucy, I came accross this:

It broke my wee and little heart.
