We kicked off our Halloween festivities a few days early by carving pumpkins at Grandma & Grandpa's house. Despite Aunt Kelli's coaxing, Maverick was hesitant to touch the gooey stuff!
Uncle Mark and Grant were good cheerleaders for the carving business :)
Grandma supervised as Mitchell cut the top off of his pumpkin :)
The boys each had Halloween shirts this year...however I couldn't seem to find Maverick's. I improvised by putting him in one of Macallan's. Sorry, Mav!
Kelli and Grant came over and we decided to take all four boys to Trick or Treat at my Mom's work. Little Grant sported his orange too! ;)
While we were scrambling to get four costumes ready, Mitchell and Maverick decided to attempt putting the halloween make-up on themselves! They drew big pink circles all over their faces. Could've been worse, right? Kelli and I got a good laugh out of it :)
Grant made the CUTEST little Tigger! :)
Mitchell got to wear his Luigi outfit to preschool to celebrate the holiday. They trick or treated the halls and he came home with lots of loot to share with his brothers!
As you may be able to tell, Mitchell is a constant source of entertainment to his classmates. He has become really good friends with the giggly little girl below, Karsen.
We were really excited when we discovered that Karsen lives a few streets away in our same neighborhood! :)
Minnie Mouse is Mitchell's friend, Maddy. I'm not sure of the circumstances, but Maddy has one prosthetic leg. Mitchell mentioned it in passing one day and I was surprised because I'd never noticed. I asked him if he knew why she was missing a leg. Mitchell looked at me strangely, like I should already know the answer to that question and then responded "Because God made her that way. I mean, He makes everyone different." I love this kid!
Honestly, Jacob and I were sad about the prospect of trick or treating alone this year... Halloween was the holiday that first introduced us to our neighbor friends in Kansas City. We reached out to some random neighbors that had kids Mitchell's age his first halloween, and those same families became a second family to us over the next few years. We were SOOO sad to leave them!
Thanks to Mitchell, Karsen's parents invited us to join them and a group of neighbors for trick or treating in our neighborhood. Yay! Apparently Karsen and her brother, Caden were arguing over which one of them got to be Mitchell's bestfriend. Karen knew she had an edge because they are the same age, but Caden (who is in Kindergarten this year) thought he had the edge because he and Mitchell were both boys. Mitchell seems to like both of them equally :)
Here's Jacob headed down the street with a plate of cookies for the halloween get together.
We are having a heck of a time getting Maverick potty trained for #2. He uses the potty almost 100% of the time for #1, but #2 is a-whole-nother story! AND he picks the WORST times to do it....like right when we're getting ready to leave the house to Trick or Treat! This time it got ALL over his Mario costume :(
WHAT TO DO?
Hmm...when Mitchell was 2 he dressed as a Tiger. I know exactly where it is! After a quick costume change, Maverick was all to happy to go Trick or Treating as a Tiger :)
Each time you asked Maverick "What happened to your Mario costume?" He'd quickly reply "I pooped in him." Classic!
Macallan enjoyed being our 3rd son to wear the monkey costume for his first Halloween! He was the only one that was a walking monkey though as neither of the other boys were walking yet as of Halloween!
Macallan's first house!
We really enjoyed meeting lots of new neighbor friends Halloween night! Our boys LOVED Trick or Treating! Just think what kind of community we could build if we left our houses every night and greeted our neighbors! :)
